Zelda Breath of the Wild: a bad surprise for the Switch 2 version, it's already raging (UPDATE)

For the past few weeks, information surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 has been multiplying, between official announcements and more or less credible information. Fortunately, on one point at least, things are now clear: physical format games designed for the Switch 2 will indeed contain all of the content on their cartridge. No unpleasant surprises to fear on this side, a detail that had nevertheless sown doubt after the first announcements. But despite With this good news, another topic has now rekindled the debate and concerns Zelda.

UPDATE: It's confirmed, IGN has received a statement from Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will not include the Expansion Pass DLC. These will have to be purchased separately.

A rumor about Zelda that makes people rage

Indeed, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which will benefit from an improved version on Nintendo Switch 2, may not include its DLC in this re-edition. Information that has been circulating for a short time... but which, again, deserves to be taken with great caution. Because once again, everything starts from an exchange published on Reddit. A fan contacted My Nintendo Store customer service to ask if this new edition of Zelda Breath of the Wild on Switch 2 would include the two expansions released in 2017: The Master Trials and The Champions' Ballad. The answer they got? No, the additional content would not be included.

A detail that raises eyebrows, especially when you know the relative reliability of this type of response. Customer service employees do not always have access to precise or definitive information, especially when official announcements have not yet been made by Nintendo. In recent years, this type of "leak" has often given rise to incorrect or incomplete information.

What do you think?

For now, Nintendo has neither confirmed nor denied this information for this Zelda game. We know that the Switch 2 Edition versions of the games will benefit from technical improvements (higher resolution, HDR, improved fluidity), but details regarding additional content remain unclear. It is therefore entirely possible that this new edition of Breath of the Wild will be limited to the base game, leaving the DLCs separately, available for purchase separately. A practice that would not be entirely new for Nintendo. But given the current communication surrounding the Switch 2, and the importance of reassuring potential buyers after the concerns related to cartridges, such a choice could be poorly perceived.

In recent years, players have become increasingly attentive to practices surrounding remasters and re-releases. Selling a Zelda game (or not) at full price without including additional content is a decision that is often criticized, especially at a time when the competition regularly offers "complete editions" integrating all DLC. And if you consider the price of the games... Nintendo doesn't really have any interest in doing things any other way.
