The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Fe and Fe + are there: beautiful finishes and experience neat for these Android tablets not too expensive

Samsung had renewed its high-end tablets for the fall of 2024 with a Tab S10+ and a Tab S10 Ultra (and no Tab S10, the S9 doing the job well for a small format). With both devices costing more than 1000 euros, a budget not within everyone's reach, it was time for the Korean manufacturer to lower its range. This has now been done with the arrival of the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and FE+.

Successful premium design and well-thought-out accessories

01net was able to get hands-on with these two products before their release at Samsung's premises. The first impression is exciting: with prices ranging from 579 euros to 949 euros, we have more or less the same feeling of premium finishes as on the Galaxy Tab S10.

This comes largely from the aluminum chassis, with its flat edges and rounded edges and the same colored contours around the camera modules.

The weight is a plus, 500 g for the basic 10.9-inch version and almost 600 g for the 13.1-inch version+. We are therefore aligned with the 500g of the Xiaomi Pad 7 and slightly above the 477g of the basic iPad, both in 11 inches.

Compared to the most high-end Samsung tablets, the most obvious difference is the black borders around the screen. Even though they have been reduced by 12%, they are still relatively present, but no more so than the competitor with the apple logo.

To round off the design, let's mention the presence of a beautiful blue color, the same as the Galaxy S25. The IP 68 certification is also welcome, to guarantee the device's waterproofness and therefore a certain protection against minor accidents.

Mid-range capabilities

As mentioned, the design is premium. But make no mistake, this is indeed a tablet geared towards the mid-range. The experience is superior to what a Galaxy Tab A offers, but it falls well short of a Galaxy Tab S.

This is evidenced by the LCD screen, a very common technology in this price range, but inevitably less impressive than the magnificent OLED panels of the S. The refresh rate is also a bit stingy, 90 Hz when the standard is more around 120 Hz. That said, having had it in our hands for a few minutes, the screen didn't seem shameful to us in terms of brightness or color rendering. We should probably expect a slight loss in contrast. We will be able to verify this during our full test.

Another sign that we are dealing with a mid-range product is that the chip chosen is the same as the Samsung Galaxy A56, the Exynos 1580. So, out go the high-end chips, in come more modest performance. Once again, for family use of a tablet, this should be more than enough. Samsung adds 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 128 to 256 GB of storage. It is possible to expand the latter with a micro SD card up to 1.5 TB.

Finally, on the hardware side, in terms of autonomy, we were unable to obtain details on the battery to date, but know that the charging speed remains at 25W. The rear camera offers a 13 Mpx sensor.

6 years of updates and AI, if you want it, here it is

The tablets come with Samsung's well-known interface, One UI 7. The tablet will benefit from 6 years of updates, which gives you time to see what's coming.

The Korean manufacturer's many AI features are obviously included. We find Surround to search for summons with the side panel, Bixby and Gemini and AI selection, a sort of improved screenshot.

One of the main new features of One UI 7, the Now Bar, is now available on tablets. As a reminder, this is a bubble system inspired by Dynamic Island and used as shortcuts on the lock screen.

The Tab S10 FE also comes with a few productivity options. Samsung Notes, for example, aims to simplify note-taking with the stylus—which comes standard—by making handwriting more legible. The app also recognizes mathematical symbols and can solve equations by explaining them.
