The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold resemble a line for a pixel 9Pro Fold

The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold resemble a line for a pixel 9Pro Fold

So yes, we write it often. In recent years, new smartphones have looked a lot like old smartphones. But the Pixel 10 Pro Fold seems to want to go further than all the others in copying its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which we kept in our pockets for several months.

At least, that's the only conclusion we can draw from the renderings published by the site Android Headlines and developed by the leaker Onleaks, whose reliability is practically no longer at prove.

According to our colleagues, it would unsurprisingly integrate the new Tensor G5 chip manufactured by TSMC (and not Samsung Foundry like the previous ones). It would be accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and 256 to 512 GB of storage. It should have roughly the same dimensions.

Why Google is playing it safe and is probably right to do so

The design, which you can see above or in the cover image of this article, is a carbon copy of Google's previous foldable device. If this were to be confirmed, it would mean several things:

  • Google has found a design that suits it. After years of searching for its identity Pixels, this is rather good news for the development of the brand;
  • Google could follow the example of Samsung, which offers very similar smartphones from one year to the next, with incremental improvements at the margins.

It is always necessary to keep in mind that when a brand follows this path, it is not addressing the few enthusiasts who will follow each launch, or even the handful of fans who buy each model. They are seeking to convince potential buyers who would like to renew their phone. From this perspective, incremental improvement is a good strategy for saving costs. Above all, brands probably see little point in completely changing their approach every year, when the general public isn't going to scrutinize every detail and every specific feature of a smartphone.

Let's hope, however, that the savings made will help lower the bill. In which case, Google's bet on stability would be all the more understandable.

When should the announcement be made? The Pixel 10 Pro Fold?

The Pixel 10 is expected to launch in August 2025. At least, that's how it should be if Google chooses to stick to its plans from last year.
