What if saving the world came through a family crisis? "Fantastic Four: First Steps" focuses on animated dinners... and a Silver Surfer brighter than ever.
The latest trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, unveiled at CinemaCon, seems to be a real blast, according to attendees. Between crazy scenes from everyday life and a cosmic threat, the Marvel film relies on the quartet's alchemy... and the spectacular entrance of the Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. An explosive mix that promises an electric summer at the cinema.
In the new images, the quartet evolves in a retro 60s New York, between Ed Sullivan-style TV shows and vintage costumes. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) announce a pregnancy in the middle of a family meal, triggering the sarcasm of Johnny (Joseph Quinn): " Don't worry, Sue, you'll be a great mom. But Reed... "Underneath the jokes, there's palpable tension: the family will have to face Galactus, whose shadow already hangs over the city.

Fantastic Four gets a new trailer
The film sets the scene with delicious retro kitsch. The opening sequence, a talk show hosted by by Mark Gatiss, summarizes the origin of the Fantastic Four in news clip style. According to media present at the event, we see Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) towing a boat into port, to the cheers of a delirious crowd. Then, the tone shifts: the Silver Surfer, metallic and impassive, lands, announcing the arrival of Galactus. "This planet is doomed." »
Domestic scenes contrast with the apocalypse. H.E.R.B.I.E., the mascot robot, helps Ben in the kitchen. Johnny teases Reed, already overwhelmed by his mistakes (“I pushed the boundaries of space… They heard us”). But when meteors rain down, the family goes into heroic mode. Even the little girl catching her Thing figurine under the debris reminds us of the challenge: protecting the innocent, whatever the cost.
Starring Ralph Ineson as Galactus (of whom we only see a shadow for now), the film explores a new multiverse. Marvel is keeping the links with the main universe a mystery, but fans will get their answer on July 23. In the meantime, one thing is certain: Julia Garner's chrome surfboard will sparkle.
