FromSoftware clearly wants to support the Nintendo Switch 2. In addition to Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which includes the full game as well as its one and only expansion, Shadow of the World Tree, the studio has announced The Duskbloods. A brand new license that will be exclusive to the next console from Big N. A temporary or permanent exclusive? We'll see, but what is certain is that it will only be available on Switch 2 when it releases in 2026. Despite its still sumptuous artistic direction, the title has disappointed a number of players on a very specific aspect.
The Duskbloods is far Bloodborne 2
The first few seconds of The Duskbloods trailer were misleading and led some to get too excited too quickly. But that's normal. With the visuals and the appearance of FromSoftware's name, many people thought it could be Bloodborne 2, even though the license belongs to PlayStation. But it's not, and it's anything but Bloodborne 2, but perhaps more of a spiritual sequel or at least a nod to the PS4 masterpiece in terms of aesthetics. On the other hand, The Duskbloods is very far of Bloodborne, Elden Ring or Dark Souls, since it is not a single-player experience... but a multiplayer one. It is thus closer on paper to the upcoming Elden Ring game Nightreign from FromSoftware.
"The Duskbloods is a PvPvE multiplayer action game depicting a dramatic battle for the First Blood, with online multiplayer at its heart where up to 8 players fight for supremacy among themselves and against challenging enemies. Players become "Twilight Bloodlines who have gained powers beyond those of humans thanks to the power of their special blood."
After the hype of the announcement and the previews, this fake Bloodborne is hugely disappointing to some people precisely because of its multiplayer dimension. " Oh no, a multiplayer game, what the hell is this"; " A multiplayer game... that's super disappointing"; " That's already a no for me"; "This has to be the biggest disappointment I've ever had between the reveal of the trailer and the publication of the information. On the same level as the disappointment Fallout 76“ can we read about X. Are you also disappointed after this revelation about The Duskbloods?
