For the big presentation of the Switch 2 scheduled for tomorrow at 3 p.m. (French time), Nintendo is counting on you to have taken your afternoon off. Whereas the first reveal trailer for the console was content with a quick highlight of the console's design – as well as first images of the next Mario Kart – the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2, 2025 promises to be a rather exhaustive presentation of the machine. We suspected it: this live will be longer than the manufacturer's usual conferences. But this time, the Kyoto-based company isn't content with just requisitioning a few minutes of our time and is revealing a surprising broadcast duration.
Because with the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct “two thousand and twenty five” here, it's not 10, not 20, not 30 but SIXTY minutes of your day that you'll have to invest in the conference. It seems that the manufacturer has a lot of surprises to reveal to us to succeed in filling such a long presentation. But then, what can viewers expect to discover tomorrow?
Power, price and release date
Here are the three elements that players are most eagerly waiting to discover. Among the dozens of rumors and leaks concerning what the Switch hides under the hood, which of them will finally be right? Power equivalent to an Xbox Series or a PS4 Pro? DLSS or no DLSS? These details aren't just important for the quality of upcoming games: the console's power will primarily impact its retail price. Will the Switch 2 retail for €399 (around fifty euros more than its big OLED sister), or will the bill ultimately reach around €500? All these essential answers await you in less than 24 hours, courage.
The console's interface and features
As the design of the new Nintendo console no longer held any secrets for players around the world – even before the official announcement of the product following the (too) many leaks – the manufacturer will have to bet everything on the interface and features of the machine. The original Switch has long been criticized for its dull menus and lack of identity.
Will the Kyoto-based company return to animated, colorful, and musical menus? The biggest mystery, however, remains the "C" button on the new Joy-Cons, whose purpose was unknown even to the console's leakers. In our wildest dreams, Nintendo will also announce original and innovative features, worthy of the famous Streetpass on the 3DS. But we'll probably have to settle for a quick overview of the new Joy-Cons and their mouse mode.
Games, lots of games
To make the launch of its new console a success, Nintendo will have to double down on game announcements. The new Mario Kart has already been confirmed, but we should also see additional new features, including Switch 2 editions of past titles. Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom in 60 frames per second, anyone? Ultimately, this announcement seems almost more plausible than the presence of Hollow Knight Silksong during the Direct.
