Spider-Man-Beyond the Spider-Ver: bad news for miles morals

First promised a 2024 release, the third installment of the adventures of Miles Morales is among the projects that the writers' and actors' strike has significantly pushed back. It had disappeared from Sony Pictures' schedule in July 2023. According to recent information shared, it was supposed to arrive no earlier than 2026. At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, an event where studios demonstrate their upcoming releases to theater operators, the studio finally formalized a new release date. The date is now set for June 4, 2027, in the United States. Four years will separate the first and second parts of Miles Morales's final adventure. Sony Pictures had initially promised that Beyond the Spider-Verse would arrive a year after its predecessor.

As one might expect, given the company's ambitions for these revolutionary animated offerings, such deadlines were impossible to meet. Sony Pictures thus had to deal with the technical requirements of this 3D cellshading animation as well as the unavailability of certain voice actors. Hopefully, this delay will allow the teams to surpass the feats already achieved for Across the Spider-Verse.

But Sony Pictures didn't come empty-handed and took advantage of its presentation to deliver some exclusive images and information on the plot of this conclusion to the saga that began in 2018 under the leadership of Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, and Rodney Rothman. They explained that Miles will be on the run at the beginning of the story, after his altercation with Miguel O'Hara. As a reminder, the latter wants to allow the Miles Morales canon event to take place. For all the web weavers, it's about losing one of their loved ones to gain motivation and fully embrace their role as vigilantes.

For Miles, it's his father's death that should act as a trigger. The teenager doesn't really agree with this idea and should try by all means to save him. At the same time, he had discovered that he was an anomaly, that all his variants were predestined to become Walkers like his uncle Aaron Davis. The images presented at CinemaCon also put the antagonist in the spotlight. This is the version played by Miles at the end of the second film. Moreover, we find Gwen at his side for an image with a new style, a pastel collage that suggests that our heroes' journey in the multiverse will be Dantesque. New realities will be on the program for these next adventures. But the directors, Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, warn future viewers, Gwen and her friends will probably not be able to save him.
