The "free" PS Plus Essential games for April 2025 have arrived, and it's no joke despite today's date. PlayStation's subscription has been updated a few days earlier than usual to renew its catalog. March 2025 was unprecedented in the service's history with the addition of the AAA Dragon Age: The Veilguard, less than six months after its launch on consoles and PC. The titles offered also included Sonic Colors Ultimate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.

What are the new PS Plus releases that follow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, Dragon Age the Veilguard, and Sonic Colors Ultimate? Three cult franchises are coming to PS5 and PS4, starting with the official Texas Chain Saw Massacre game from Sumo Digital, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. An asymmetrical multiplayer title where you play as one of the Killers or one of the Prey, including the legendary Leatherface. While this adaptation inspired by Tobe Hooper's horror masterpiece suffers from some of the same issues found in other games of the same genre, we had a good time during our review.
The second PS Plus Essential game of April 2025, available now, is RoboCop Rogue City. One of the pleasant surprises of 2023 on consoles and PC. "RoboCop: Rogue City stands out as the most accomplished video game adaptation of this iconic action hero from the 80s. Although expectations were not particularly high (given the studio's past), the game manages to captivate fans with its atmosphere and thrills," concluded our Camille.
Finally, the Pokemon-like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hack's Memory is also joining the PS Plus Essential in April 2025. Like its predecessor, you'll be able to collect and battle different creatures, with turn-based battles. In all, you'll be able to obtain, raise, and evolve more than 300 Digimon.

Although PlayStation specifies the destination platform for the games, PS5 or PS4, we remind you that the PlayStation 4 software offered to PS Plus Essential subscribers is of course playable in backward compatibility on PlayStation 5.
