In the midst of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the license, The Sims 4 has the right to a lot of content and the year should be full of surprises. This began with the re-release of The Sims and The Sims 2 in February. And this should continue with other events and content throughout the year.
Unfortunately, many fans are still disappointed and left wanting more. Last September, we officially learned of the cancellation of The Sims 5. The game was abandoned and replaced by Project Rene, which was supposed to offer us a multiplayer experience. Today, new leaks give us a new glimpse, it's a real cold shower.
Project Rene: disaster in sight?
In October 2024, shortly after the official cancellation of The Sims 5, we already had the right to a first glimpse of Project Rene which did not really excite the community. Today, it is through a leak that we discover a new concept with what appears to be a free-to-play mobile game. As a reminder, Project Rene was originally supposed to be the code name for The Sims 5. Following the project's cancellation, Electronic Arts announced that Project Rene would become a new formula that would integrate several projects, alongside The Sims 4, which would receive a major follow-up with a shower of new content and DLC. coming in the next few years.
In October 2024, a first leak showed us the famous multiplayer game. Today, it is via a leak on YouTube that we discover an extract of City Life Game with Friends, a kind of concept that appears to be a free-to-play mobile game and which would indeed be a Sims game included in Project Rene.
As with the October 2024 extract, the game takes place in a Parisian district. Again, it seems to be a multiplayer experience in which players can meet and do certain activities together, such as chatting or eating. For the moment, the game is not yet called "The Sims" and is keeping a provisional name. And, let's be honest, for the moment, it's far from being a dream, even for a free-to-play mobile game.
