One UI 8 (Android 16) would arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7

Every summer, Samsung presents its foldable models. But in 2025, the real surprise might not come from the design, but from the software interface. New rumors suggest that the Korean giant could launch its Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 with One UI 8, based on Android 16, as soon as they are released.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 would be the first to benefit from One UI 8

There is movement on the software side at Samsung. While the One UI 7 rollout is still ongoing, the brand could decide to release One UI 8 much earlier than expected. According to Sammobile, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, expected this summer, would arrive directly with this new version based on Android 16.

There is a certain logic behind this since Google plans to release Android 16 between June and July, right around the time Samsung usually holds its Unpacked event. This would be the perfect opportunity to unveil its new foldables with the latest version of the system. According to some sources, tests are already underway internally, notably on the Galaxy S25.

Software (still) at the forefront

On the hardware side, leaks suggest some design tweaks and little or no technical optimizations for the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. As with the S25, the real star could therefore be the software interface. If Samsung is launching One UI 8 so early, it may be to give its foldable range a fresh look. After several generations without major developments, a new lease of life on the software side would be welcome. Google promises quite a few improvements with Android, which Samsung could integrate into an enhanced version of its interface.

But the real question is whether foldable-specific features will be included. Samsung has already shown in the past that it knows how to adapt its interface to foldable screens. A refined version of One UI 8, designed to make the most of the Fold and Flip's features, could make the difference.
