During the Direct dedicated to the Switch 2, Nintendo finally revealed the console's release date: it will be June 5th! The Switch 2 will be available in France and Europe, as well as in the United States, Canada and many other countries on this date. The beginning of a new era for Nintendo and for gamers.
Switch 2: a strategic release date
Nintendo has pulled all the juice possible from the first generation of the Switch, perhaps even too much in the eyes of some players tired of the tsunami of remakes and remasters of recent months. Moreover, the manufacturer has had to revise downwards its sales forecasts in recent quarters.
The Switch 2 had the right to a first quick presentation in mid-January which above all served to silence the concert of incessant rumors. The short video only confirmed the main indiscretions without giving any truly new information.
The announcement at the beginning of the year and the confirmation of the marketing in June follows the same calendar logic as the first Switch. The hybrid console was in fact revealed to the world in October 2016; in January 2017, an event gave technical information on the device finally put on sale in March. Five months had passed the time between the curtain going up and the release on the shelves.
Now we can only hope that Nintendo has planned large quantities of stock and that the manufacturer will be able to avoid shortages!
