Microsoft is expanding its AI AI IA functions

More than six months after their inauguration in Copilot PCs with Snapdragon X chips (ARM architecture), the first generative AI functions are now offered on AMD or Intel (x86) computers compatible with Copilot — understand: PCs that have an NPU chip developing 40 TOPS or more. We had a taste at the end of January, with the refresh of the Surface for Business range.

The latest update The Windows 11 update brings a live caption feature to PCs with Ryzen AI 300 or Core Ultra 200V that translates dialogue and discussions into audio and video in real time (but only in English). Support for additional languages is in the pipeline for AMD and Intel processors - this is already the case for Copilot with Snapdragon. Voice control is not yet available, it will be later this year. This accessibility feature allows you to control your computer with your voice in a more natural way.

Paint includes a Cocreator module to generate and enhance images with text queries or from a freehand drawing. The Photos app offers a Restyle tool that applies artistic styles (oil painting, sketches, etc.) to images. And there's also Image Creator, also in Photos, to generate visuals based on a prompt.

Not all of these new features for Intel and AMD apply to Copilot PCs with Snapdragon X chips, but at least everyone is now pretty much up to speed. What's missing is the Recall feature for finding a web page or document using a screenshot system; it's been in beta since last November.
