Marathon: After Destiny 2, Bungie finally pulls out all the stops and gives us a date

Even though there's demand, Bungie doesn't appear to be working on Destiny 3. According to Jason Schreier, a third episode was never in development. However, the developers were apparently working on a secret game, Project Payback, which was reportedly canceled. Since then, the studio seems to be focusing solely on Marathon, their new major project planned for PS5, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC. After leaving its fans in the dark, Bungie is ready to reveal everything.

Bungie officialises a Marathon presentation

After Destiny 2, Bungie is finally pulling out all the stops and giving us a surprise, the detailed presentation of Marathon. The studio's next multiplayer title is a PvP extraction shooter where players will take on the role of a runner to fight "for survival, treasure, and renown in this evolving world with specific zones, where any race can allow you to achieve glory."

Last week, Bungie and PlayStation came together to launch a teaser for Marathon, and now we know what to expect. It's almost time for the developers to break their silence completely, as they invite players to mark Saturday, April 12, 2025, in their calendars. "Nothing like a still-warm body. Join us Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. for the Marathon gameplay presentation." So this weekend, we'll finally get some gameplay and a little more information about Bungie's next game.

Before this event, we have the right to A first teaser that reveals one of Marathon's maps. In this 1 minute 25 second video, we hear gunshots and we clearly see in-game clips with a character on the ground. While the colors may be up for debate, the art direction seems more than up to Bungie's reputation.
