The Barbie movie sparked a global cultural phenomenon by revisiting the world of Barbie and Ken. Today, adults represent the fastest-growing segment in the toy industry. While Barbie has long appealed to adult collectors, the brand now offers a version of Ken that is sure to surprise them. As 2026 approaches, the 65th anniversary of this iconic character, the brand unveils the Kenbassadors.
The first doll, developed in close collaboration with LeBron James, faithfully reflects his personal style. She is dressed in a blue varsity jacket decorated with embroidered patches that pay homage to key moments in his life: the "We Are Family" logo in homage to his world, the number "23" for his iconic jersey, and an "Ohio" a nod to his hometown. He also sports a “We Are Family” t-shirt in reference to his foundation, Nike Terminator sneakers, Beats headphones, sunglasses, a fanny pack, a watch, and of course, his iconic “I Promise” bracelet. While LeBron James is best known for his exploits on the basketball court, he has also established himself as a true trendsetter and a key figure in pop culture. The LeBron James doll doesn't just reflect his laid-back style: it resembles him down to the smallest details, including his height – She is 2.54 centimeters taller than the standard Ken doll, which gives her personalized packaging, larger than the usual size.
This initiative is accompanied by a partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation, which works to support families through education, housing, health care, and job training. Mattel plans to make a donation to the foundation and distribute James's children's book, "I Am More Than," for each doll sold.
The CITADIUM located at 50-56 Rue de Caumartin 75009 Paris, will unveil a pop-up featuring the LeBron James Kenbassadors in preview from Saturday, April 12 to Monday, April 14. The Barbie Signature LeBron James Kenbassador doll will be available for 109.99 euros starting Monday, April 14.
