The iPhone 17 Pro isn't expected until at least September 2025, but it has already been the subject of numerous rumors for several weeks. The prospects are numerous: the arrival of an iPhone 17 Air which would be the only one with a titanium frame, the transition to 120 Hz (or ProMotion) across the entire range, or even the integration of a home network chip.
But the most highlighted and undoubtedly the most visible point is undoubtedly the possible arrival of a completely new design with a crossbar on the back which would shake up the codes. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is used to providing fairly reliable information about the Cupertino company, we shouldn't expect such a significant upheaval that it has on the design.
Don't expect "a particularly bold new look"
In his newsletter, Power On, he writes bluntly that we should not expect "a particularly bold new look", at least for one specific model, the iPhone 17 Pro.
He explains that the front face would be "similar" to that of the iPhone 16 Pro. So don't expect any changes to the size of the Dynamic Island or the black borders around the screen.
On the other hand, he explains that the photo block would be "significantly different". The journalist goes a little further and comments on the leaks highlighting a back with two color tones, and notably a black photo block. He explains bluntly: "These images, like many other renderings on the Internet, are not an accurate representation of what is to come." The journalist is referring here to the visuals published by the Front Page Tech site, which 01net.com decided not to use at the time due to the reliability This is a very dubious claim from this source.
In short, the idea of a horizontal bar-shaped camera block isn't completely ruled out, just don't expect it to come in a different color. According to Bloomberg, Apple is waiting until the iPhone's 20th anniversary to offer a truly different design. That would put us in 2027.
