inZOI rolls out a new update, here's what's changed

The Sims 4 is no longer the only simulation game on the market. inZOI is ready to kick things up a notch. As it stands, it's clearly imperfect and incomplete, but due to early access, the South Korean game will be improved with updates. These patches will ultimately be a little smaller, but they will arrive more frequently than expected in order to fix the most urgent problems and make the most requested improvements as quickly as possible. This is necessary, especially since 85% of players have already deserted inZOI, which has reached lower numbers than The Sims 4 when it was at its worst. There's no question of the studio giving up, having just deployed a new update.

Our inZOI guide

A new update for inZOI

For the big new features, we'll have to wait until next month. Cheat codes (the real ones), mods, improvements to social relationships, and the adoption system are planned for May, until further notice. To compensate, the teams are now deploying inZOI hotfixes more regularly to address the most pressing issues. This time, it's the conversation system that's getting some improvements to better reflect emotions in a more natural way. The Karma system is also undergoing some changes. Now the frequency of interactions related to it has been reduced by 50% and the emotional state of the Zoi is now taken into account. You can find the complete list of all the changes in the latest inZOI update in the patch notes below:

Patch notes for inZOI version 20250422.2471.W

Gameplay update

Conversations now reflect the Zoi's main emotion

  • Previously, conversations between Zois were primarily influenced by their personality traits and their affinity with others. We've improved the system so that when a Zoi is experiencing one of 22 intense emotional states—like euphoria, rage, or despair—their dialogue and behaviors reflect that emotional context more naturally.
    • Targeted Emotions: Excitement / Joy / Enthusiasm / Ecstasy / Elation / Laughter / Uncontrollable Laughter / Euphoria / Anger / Rage / Irritation / Unease / Displeasure / Humiliation / Embarrassment / Confusion / Fear / Dread / Surprise / Despair / Depression / Shock.
      • This change helps reduce odd interactions that don't match the Zoi's emotional state. Now, when a Zoi is experiencing an intense emotion, their reactions will reflect it in a more immersive way. If the emotion is less pronounced, conversations will continue to flow naturally according to the daily affinity between Zois.
      • You may also notice more intense, even aggressive, behavior when Zois are overwhelmed by strong emotions. To maintain a good balance, we plan to introduce systems in future updates that will help Zois calm down more naturally.

Improvements to inZOI Karma-related interactions

  • Psycat Alerts Disabled
    • Psycat alerts that displayed when the city's karma level decreased will no longer be displayed. This change is intended to reduce unnecessary judgment in negative situations and promote player immersion.
    • Karma Rating Criteria Adjusted
      • We have changed the rating scale from "slightly bad or less / normal or more" to "bad or less / good". This change helps prevent excessive negative ratings due to slight fluctuations.
    • Reduced the frequency of Karma-related choices
      • Karma-related choices were appearing too frequently and interrupting the natural flow of the game. We have reduced their frequency to provide a smoother and less intrusive experience.
    • New conditions for Karma-related interactions
      • Karma interactions will now take into account the Zoi's emotional state as well as relationship dynamics, for more immersive and contextually consistent dialogues.
    • Reduced the frequency of Karma-related interactions by 50%
      • Karma-related interactions were occurring too frequently, sometimes leading to inappropriate behavior. We have reduced their frequency by 50%, to allow for a more gradual evolution that is consistent with the overall pace of the game.

inZOI Bug Fixes

Gameplay

  • Fixed an issue where time would continue to run if the “Play with an existing family” option was selected in Ghost Mode and the “No Household Members” pop-up remained open.
  • Fixed an issue where a pregnancy would be mishandled when attempted in a full household (7 members).
  • Fixed an issue where MY textures applied to walls, floors, or ceilings would display with incorrect materials.
  • Fixed an issue where applying a building model containing AI textures that were deleted or missing were not properly deleting said textures.

Ambitions/Objectives

  • Fixed an issue where only certain dialogue options were being considered for the “Have a Positive Conversation” mission.

Career and Interactions

  • Fixed an issue where a married NPC with a job would automatically revert to their work outfit even after manually changing clothes.
  • Fixed an issue where Zois would automatically change their work outfit (rabbit hole) even outside of working hours.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Propose to Marry” interaction would trigger cohabitation without finalizing the marriage if scheduled with a Zoi already in a relationship.

Stability

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when changing a color or material in Build or Create a Zoi mode.
    • Along with this fix, we've updated the texture sorting system. All imported textures will now be added to the bottom of the list in descending order. Previously used textures will also follow this rule. For convenience, newly imported textures will be automatically displayed and highlighted in the list. We hope this will improve the user experience.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting a 3D mesh while a Zoi was wearing a 3D printed accessory in Build Mode.
