Currently only available in early access on PC since May 6, 2024, Hades 2 is slowly making its way through the Hell of Greek mythology. According to the latest news, it might not be released in version 1.0 before 2026. This will allow it to be released on other platforms, but a recent development risks putting off many console players who are eagerly awaiting it.
Selective divine benefits at the release of Hades 2 in 1.0
On February 20, Hades 2 welcomed its final update major update, called "The Song of War." This notably added the famous God of War Ares to the pantheon of deities coming to help Melinoé. It also added the final boss of Mount Olympus, the second route proposed for the Princess of the Underworld in her quest to kill the Titan Cronus. Everything seems to indicate that its early access is approaching its end. But Supergiant Games still needs time to perfect its potential masterpiece and make it available in 1.0.
When it is ready, Hades 2 will finally be able to invite itself onto platforms other than PC. Except that this will first be in the form of an exclusive temporary console, in favor of the newly presented Nintendo Switch 2 from every angle and its big sister. During yesterday's giant Nintendo Direct, we briefly saw the sequel to Hades among the "partner" games highlighted. Then, Nintendo released a long press release about its future console. In it, we can read that the next title from Supergiant Games "will be released first on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2".
If you were eager to jump into Hades 2 and Mélinoé's quest on PS5 and Xbox Series as soon as it's released in 1.0, you'll unfortunately have to come back later. However, it remains to be seen when the game will arrive in its full version, and how long the temporary console exclusivity secured by Nintendo will last. For now, only the gods of Olympus know the answer to these thorny questions.
