Don't try to declare your income now, the tax website is down

Unable to access the page to declare his income online on the tax website. Like every year, he can't... support the massive influx of taxpayer connections.

Don't try to declare your income now, the tax website is down

It's a period we'd like to escape, but which remains immutable like the rotation of the Earth: the declaration of one's annual income. It is possible to do this as of today, April 10, 2025. Fortunately, it has been greatly simplified for several years. For employees, for example, the procedure mainly consists of verifying that the pre-filled information is accurate and obtaining a possible new withholding tax rate.

However, it is mandatory if you don't want to receive an unfriendly message from the tax authorities. And yet, even with the best will in the world, you won't be able to do it. The reason is very simple: the page dedicated to online filing isn't working. If you go there, you'll be greeted with an HTTP 503 error and the message “The website cannot display the page. The service is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later.“.

The tax website is overloaded, no one can declare their 2024 income

This isn't the first time this has happened. In fact, the situation repeats itself every year, due to a massive influx of taxpayers that the servers can't manage. You'd think that by now, the necessary would have been done, but apparently not. So what can you do? Nothing more than simply wait. Don't panic, you have plenty of time to come back later.

As a reminder, the deadline for declaring your 2024 income to the tax authorities depends on your department of residence. Here they are:

  • Departments from 1 (Ain) to 19 (Corrèze): Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Departments from 20 (Corsica) to 54 (Meurthe-et-Moselle): Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Departments from 55 (Meuse) to 974 (La Réunion) and 976 (Mayotte): Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

So there's no rush. Remember that while online declaration has become mandatory, some people can still do it on paper, for example if they don't have internet access. If you are in this situation, the deadline is a little tighter, with a deadline of Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
