Do you have Canal+? This current scam calls for caution

A malicious campaign is currently targeting Canal+ subscribers. Hackers are attempting to obtain as much sensitive customer data as possible by sending them seemingly legitimate emails. Here's how to spot this phishing attempt and avoid the trap.

Do you have Canal+? This current scam calls for caution

Phishing attempts are becoming increasingly common. The latest one is targeting Canal+ customers in particular. An email received by numerous customers claims that their account risks being suspended without any action on their part. The message uses an alleged payment failure as a pretext.

To make the missive even more urgent, the email emphasizes that payment details must be updated “within 48 hours” – otherwise the user risks “interruption of [their] service.” The particularly laconic missive is signed by “The CANAL+ Team.” It comes with a button that redirects victims to a page controlled by hackers.

Don't fall into the trap set by this "official" email from Canal+

To reinforce the credibility of the message, an insert at the end of the email includes the legal information found in other communications from the company. In particular, with, let's note, a certain cynicism, a regulatory message on the processing of personal data. Given the number of customers who have been targeted by this scam, Canal+ has posted a screenshot of the fraudulent email on its support pages.

There are several details that can help you avoid the trap – but more generally, you should always be wary when a company asks you to update your data in this way. For security reasons, it is always best not to follow the links and buttons contained in these emails; Instead, going directly to the website of the service in question and checking your account details yourself is much more secure.

If in doubt, you should contact customer service yourself using the contact details provided on your invoices, or directly via the support pages of the official website. If you have accidentally communicated banking details via this scam, we advise you to contact your bank as soon as possible. Canal+ also recommends changing your password to prevent any unauthorized access to your customer account.
