With 500 million weekly active users, ChatGPT is clearly at the top of the online chatbot pack. Similarweb's March statistics show that OpenAI's service is still the most popular, and growth is still there. The launch of the image generation feature has generated exceptional enthusiasm: this Monday, ChatGPT recorded 1 million registrations... in one hour, rejoiced Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.
DeepSeek and Grok in ambush
But even if ChatGPT is the undisputed winner of the bot race, at the back it's a fight. Similarweb calculated 10.9 million daily visits on average for Gemini, or 7.4% more in one month for the Google bot. Claude displays 3.3 million, Copilot reached 2.4 million. But it's DeepSeek and Grok that are battling for second place, with 16.5 million daily visits. But while the former is down 25% compared to February, the latter is enjoying a spectacular 800% growth!
And we're only talking about web traffic. The bots above all have a dedicated mobile app. However, these figures should be viewed with a grain of salt: Similarweb talks about weekly unique visitors for ChatGPT, and daily unique visits for all the others. A unique visitor can visit the same bot multiple times each day.
Regarding apps, Sensor Tower noted Claude saw a 21% growth in weekly active users during the week of February 24, just after the launch of Claude 3.7. By early February, the Gemini app had seen a 42% increase compared to the previous week following the availability of the Gemini 2.0 Flash model.
So it is indeed the new features that attract users, that many want to test and why not, adopt. Here which will not reduce the rate of launch of new functions.
