Nintendo unveiled its next console on April 2nd in a presentation that was eagerly awaited. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world gathered to see the power of the console, as well as all the games that will be available at launch and in the coming months. Among them, the brand new Mario Kart World, as well as a game from From Software.
After focusing on Elden Ring for over 3 years, the studio is moving on to its next project. The Duskbloods was revealed during the Nintendo Direct as the last trailer for third-party games. Nintendo gave it impressive visibility, 5 minutes before the end of its conference. Set in a vampire universe, The Duskbloods reveals some tantalizing first images, and gameplay that is still just as demanding.
For the moment, very little information is available on the title, but there's a good reason. Nintendo will reveal more about The Duskbloods in a dedicated article, which will appear on April 4th on its website. The developers will take the opportunity to share details of the game's story, as well as gameplay details.
An unexpected Nintendo game
Nintendo's role wasn't very clear during the presentation. The platform is more accustomed to family games, so finding itself with the exclusive announcement of a From Software game is surprising. But after some research, it seems that The Duskbloods will not only arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, but will also be exclusive to the platform. It is not yet known if it will be a temporary or permanent, but it means that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players will certainly be deprived of it. The reasons for this agreement have not been disclosed, but we are leaning more towards a reason related to optimization concerns.
We do, however, appreciate the announcement of the arrival of Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2 in a tailor-made version, starting in 2025. With these two titles, and others that were unveiled during the conference, Nintendo wants to welcome a whole new audience and thus strengthen its position among its direct competitors. The question that remains is: will the Nintendo Switch 2 be able to run these games properly? Based on the first images, Elden Ring looks good graphically, but only supports a low frame rate, which is a huge drawback for this type of game where responsiveness and precision are essential.
