If you don't know what to watch after the YouTube video you're currently watching, the service will make recommendations for you in a new way.
YouTube is an inexhaustible platform. Thanks to the algorithm that learns from your tastes and viewing habits, you are constantly presented with videos that might interest you. Whether at the end of the current video or on the side of the player, it is very easy to find other content to watch.
The platform wants to go further and suggest content while you are watching one. More specifically, you know that when a video is playing, you can add a new one to a queue so as not to forget it. It is in this queue that recommendations will now be displayed. Note that this only happens when you place one yourself beforehand.
YouTube is testing a new way to recommend videos to you
This new way of suggesting videos is practical in that it avoids having to go back to the home page. However, it is not yet entirely optimal. For example, adding a video on topic X and another on topic Y will not trigger recommendations mixing the two themes. In addition, suggestions are not automatically added to your queue, nor even automatically launched when it reaches the end.

The feature isn't available to everyone. It's reserved for YouTube Premium subscribers and only appears on Android. Furthermore, it's part of the platform's experiments, so its availability serves as a time-limited test. Those affected can use it until April 7, 2025, after which the option will be removed so YouTube can analyze its usage. Depending on the service's findings, it's possible that it won't see the light of day after all, or that it will be rolled out in a different form.
