Xiaomi releases two new Poco gaming smartphones at a very competitive price

Xiaomi announces two new smartphones for its gaming-oriented range, the Poco F7 Pro and F7 Ultra. Here's their presentation before their full test and their passage in the 01Lab.

The first Poco Ultra

For the first time, Poco is including a model bearing the term Ultra. The objective is undoubtedly to signal to its potential buyers that this is a pinnacle, the paragon, the flagship of Poco.

To do this, there are no two ways around it; you absolutely need the most powerful chip on the market, the Snapdragon 8 Elite engraved in 3 nm and which absolutely devours all the benchmarks that come its way. The Poco F7 Pro, for its part, uses the previous chip that occupied this place, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In both cases, the chips will have enough to avoid overheating, since they will rely on a very large vapor chamber of 5400 mm².

Poco's first dedicated graphics chip

To take the graphics capabilities a little further, Xiaomi is integrating a dedicated graphics chip for the first time on a Poco. Its little name: Visionboost D7. It is based on an engraving process that is not new, advanced 12 nm. But Xiaomi claims that this should allow to obtain 120 FPS in 2K definition on the title Genshin Impact during an hour of gameplay with low temperatures. Only the Poco F7 Ultra benefits from this new feature, which may partly explain the choice of name.

The Poco F7 Pro has nothing to be ashamed of, however, since according to the manufacturer it reaches 90 FPS on Genshin Impact.

The Ultra has a smaller battery than the Pro

The Poco F7 Ultra relies on a 5300 mAh battery while the Pro goes up to 6000 mAh. The Ultra makes up for this in charging power, going up to 120 W, which should allow it to reach a full charge in 34 minutes. According to 01Lab's findings on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, this doesn't seem impossible. The F7 Pro's charging caps at 90 W, a very comfortable value.

Both phones benefit from dedicated chips in this area, with the Poco Surge P3 dedicated to charging and the Poco Surge G1 taking care of the battery. According to the manufacturer, these two chips allow the battery to be optimized for wear and tear and to retain 80% of its capacity after 1600 charge cycles.

The rest of the Poco F7 specifications

Apart from the aforementioned elements, the specifications are a little more traditional. Let's start with the photo with the Ultra which is equipped with a triple photo module, with a wide angle (50 Mpx), an ultra wide angle (32 Mpx) and a x2.5 telephoto lens. The Pro removes the telephoto lens and reduces the pixel count of the ultra-wide angle to 8 MP.

Both smartphones feature OLED screens with an average brightness of 1800 nits, beneath which lies an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. These offer faster fingerprint reading speeds.

The interface of both Poco F7s will be HyperOS 2.0, the latest version of the manufacturer's interface right out of the box.
