Nintendo revealed the upcoming games that would be released on the first Switch in a Nintendo Direct. Among them, a title that we imagined would be dedicated to the Switch 2: Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. It will arrive later this year.

It had already been official for a few months, but Nintendo has today given more details on its next blockbuster: Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. The Kyoto-based company presented it at length during its last Nintendo Direct, with a big surprise.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will mark the great return of the Prime formula after an eighteen-year absence. The saga continued to live on with Other M, Dread and the remake of Metroid Prime, but fans have been waiting for this fourth FPS episode since 2007. They are finally served.

Metroid Prime 4 will of course arrive on the Switch

As always, we will play as Samus trapped on an unknown planet which will gradually open up as the adventure progresses. The trailer promises a beautifully modeled world and above all full of life... Gameplay-wise, it feels like home. The special feature of this episode will be the heroine's psychic powers, which will be useful for solving puzzles or fighting enemies.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will be released on Switch 1 in 2025, without further details. The manufacturer has in fact organized its Nintendo Direct around the latest games planned for its august console, and not for the Switch 2, which will be presented on April 2. Rumors were rife that Metroid Prime 4 would be one of the launch games for the new console. It will be - at best - a cross-generational title that could arrive on both. We already know that Switch 1 games will be able to run on Switch 2.

In addition to Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, other titles were presented, such as Dragon Quest 1 and 2 Remake, Pokémon Legends ZA or even a new installment of Tomodachi Life. One of the other big announcements was the appearance of virtual cartridges, which allow you to load your digital games onto several consoles in order to lend them, just like you would with a cartridge. A way to make life easier for players, but also to have greater control over digital games purchased on the eShop.
