The Witcher 4 has an outing window and she puts the patience of the players to the test

We'll have to wait to get our hands on The Witcher 4. The game's release date has been announced, and one thing is certain: the continuation of Geralt and Ciri's adventures won't be coming soon.

The Witcher 4 has an outing window and she puts the patience of the players to the test

There are video games that leave their mark on their era. Titles that we still talk about, or even replay, many years after their release. In the world of role-playing games, we can cite for example The Elder Scrolls Morrowind and its sequels Oblivion then Skyrim, or even The Witcher. Unlike the Bethesda saga, it is above all the latest opus of the adventures of the witcher Gearlt de Rives which propelled the series to the forefront. The Witcher 3, released in 2015, and still to this day considered one of the best games in its category.

Obviously, when a sequel is announced 7 years later, fans are over the moon. At the time, the teams at the studio in charge, CD Projekt RED, were careful to warn: they would take the time needed to develop the title and it wouldn't happen in 1 or 2 years. Never mind, it's better to wait than to be disappointed by a rushed game, right? In absolute terms, yes, but here, we'll have to be very patient.

The Witcher 4 release window is official and it's not a good thing to hear

There is no specific release date for the fourth installment of The Witcher. CD Projekt RED's CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, has, however, mentioned a window “to give more visibility to investors“.

The statement also benefits players, and it must be said that the shower is particularly cold: there is no question of publishing The Witcher 4 “by the end of 2026″. In other words, The Witcher 4 will be released at the earliest in 2027. And that's being optimistic.

We can therefore forget the leak that gave hope for a release in 2025. The studio's decision could be explained by a desire to offer its game on the next generation of Sony and Microsoft consoles. According to the latest known information, the PlayStation 6 as well as the next Xbox should in fact land between 2026 and 2027.
