Extreme, that's for sure. The ROG Harp Ace Extreme absolutely blows everything away: performance, quality of materials, finishes, comfort, and most importantly, your wallet. Expect a whopping €279.99 to get your hands on this little gem that goes to the very bottom of things. Nothing is left to chance at this price, and it's definitely not for everyone. But as light as it is, the Harp Ace Extreme is a monster that packs a serious punch. The only question we have now is: is it worth the cost?
A mouse that smells of luxury from the moment it's opened
Just by opening the package, the mouse tells us the color: it's the height of luxury. A hinged box that opens like a flower, a display stand with the mouse inside, a small reinforced carrying case to avoid hard knocks... the tone is set. The Harpe Ace Extreme lacks nothing. In the small carrying box, we will find a USB micro switch, a braided and reinforced cable, as well as a tiny ROG Omni dongle. A cardboard sleeve also contains interchangeable skates and grips to customize your mouse as you see fit.
A classy design
Just from the packaging, you can tell that ROG has gone all out, which is confirmed when you get a closer look at the mouse itself. 127.5 mm long, 63.7 mm wide and less than 40 mm high, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme is not a mini and is more in line with the mid-sized mice. It may be a little lower and less curved than some, which will be noticed by gamers with larger hands.
Either way, the grip is excellent, even for larger hands, no matter how you hold it. Full-handed or claw-handed, the clicks and side buttons fall perfectly under the fingers, and the mouse's design even makes it semi-ambidextrous. As is often the case, left-handers will unfortunately not find any side buttons on the right side, as these are exclusively present on the left side, which is a shame.
Top ergonomics and comfort
The ergonomics remain very good, but it is especially the comfort that is incredible. Made entirely of genuine carbon fiber, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme is ultra-light, weighing in at nearly 47 grams, making it one of the lightest mice on the market. That's 7 grams lighter than the already very light ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition, for example.
The mouse also feels extremely smooth to the touch. Its rounded, no-nonsense design makes it the perfect companion for long gaming sessions. The only slight "crazy touch" is that the clicks are slightly curved to prevent slippage and appear raised, like two petals. Between the two is an ultra-responsive, translucent scroll wheel to discreetly reveal a bit of RGB. A little grip on the scroll wheel and on the sides finishes things off. It's impeccable, flawless in my opinion.
Outstanding in-game performance
Under the Rog Harpe Ace Extreme, we find an optical sensor Aimpoint Pro capable of going up to 42,000 dpi, yes it's useless because it's so high, but it's the promise of incredible precision, especially since the rest of the specifications are also dizzying: 750 fps top speed, 50G max acceleration. In game, comfort is maximum and as usual, we can count on the Armory Crate to fine-tune its own settings. The in-house software from Asus Rog and company is always solid and offers a wide range of possibilities, even if it is still a little too austere for my taste. In any case, everything is perfectly calibrated so that the most hardcore players and competition enthusiasts will be in heaven.
The ROG Harpe Ace Extreme, the queen of endurance
Moreover, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme makes very good promises of endurance on paper. It's impossible to go and check for ourselves, but we are promised, for example, a lifespan of 100 million presses for the switches of the two clicks. Carbon fiber is also highlighted because it is extremely strong and flexible compared to most of the materials generally used. In addition, the accessories provided are also of excellent quality with additional glass pads, for an extremely smooth glide and optimal resistance, but also in PTFE, which has no more to prove itself. Endurance always with the battery this time which has an incredible autonomy ranging from 53 hours (in the most demanding mode 2.4GHz wireless and RGB activated) up to 98 hours (in the most economical mode, Bluetooth without RGB).
In game, in its standard settings, the ROG Harpe Ace Extreme responds like thunder. It is monstrously precise on demanding shooters like Valorant or PUBG and is totally suitable for more arcade games like Warzone. Even in RTS-style strategy games or MOBAs like League of Legends, the mouse is a fierce ally. Ultimately, only the clicks are very pronounced and a little noisy when activated compared to others, but nothing alarming, it's really just nitpicking. But when you're willing to invest that much, you have an eye for it.
