Test asus rog harp ace mini: an extraordinary and light mouse

The ROG Harp Ace Mini immediately stands out for its featherweight of just 49 grams. While ASUS hasn't opted for carbon fiber like its big sister, the Extreme, the weight is still very light. With dimensions of 121 x 67 x 42 mm, it's designed for optimal handling. The result? An incredibly maneuverable mouse that reduces wrist fatigue, even during long gaming sessions.

An ultra-light and refined design

The ASUS ROG Harp Ace Mini features a semi-symmetrical design. Although its shape is generally symmetrical, the side buttons are exclusively for right-handed users. It follows the design of its predecessor, the ASUS ROG Harp Ace, but with smaller dimensions. The curvature is slightly less pronounced, and the mouse is 10 mm shorter, which is clearly felt in the hand. The casing is made of matte plastic with a smooth finish that, according to ASUS, effectively resists sweat and grease. Two colors are available: black and white. The ROG logo, positioned on the back, is gray, and only the scroll wheel is backlit. The latter, with diagonal ridges and a rubberized surface, offers a pleasant grip. The backlight brightness is, however, very intense, even at the lowest setting.

Good connectivity

In terms of connectivity, ASUS has left nothing to chance. The mouse offers three modes: wired USB, Bluetooth 5.1, and 2.4 GHz RF. With the latter, battery life reaches 107 hours, which is perfect for long gaming sessions. And if you like responsiveness, the polling rate can climb up to 8000 Hz with the ROG Polling Rate Booster adapter (sold separately for 30 euros).

Under the mouse, there are four small triangular Teflon feet. But also an ROG AimPoint Pro optical sensor with a circular insert of the same material, a three-position switch for connection modes, storage space for the USB Omni receiver, as well as buttons for adjusting the DPI resolution and connectivity. These also allow for quick adjustments without using software. A USB Type-C to USB Type-A adapter is also included, a classic ASUS accessory.

Top-notch technology from ASUS

You're probably wondering what the Polling Rate Booster is. Well, it's a technology developed by ASUS to improve the responsiveness and fluidity of wireless gaming mice. In short, the polling rate measures how many times per second a mouse sends information to the computer about its position and clicks. The Booster will therefore optimize wireless data transmission by increasing the frequency at which information is sent to the computer. Thus achieving extremely high polling rates. This allows the responsiveness of the wireless mouse to surpass that of a standard wired mouse.

Peak performance at ASUS

Under its sleek design, the ASUS Harpe Ace Extreme hides impressive performance. Equipped with the ROG AimPoint Pro sensor, it offers formidable precision with a resolution of up to 42,000 DPI. Its maximum speed of 750 IPS and 50G acceleration ensure optimal responsiveness, even in the fastest games. The sensor guarantees precise tracking on various surfaces, whether it's a mouse pad or even a glass table. While some competitors, like Razer, offer finer DPI settings, the mouse's overall performance remains flawless with less than 1% deviation. Flawless. The buttons feature ROG Optical Micro Switches, designed to withstand 100 million clicks.

Tested on competitive titles like DOOM Eternal and our faithful Hunt Showdown, the mouse offers a smooth and responsive experience, without any tracking issues. The textured grips and symmetrical design improve comfort over long sessions. The weight distribution is also impeccable. The mouse remains perfectly balanced and does not tilt forward or backward when lifted. The coating, pleasant to the touch, offers excellent grip thanks to the textured side areas. The mouse doesn't slip, even during prolonged use.

And what about battery life?

In 2.4 GHz mode, the mouse offers up to 105 hours of battery life with the backlight off, or 79 hours with the light on. In Bluetooth mode, battery life increases to 139 hours without the light, and to 113 hours with it. In our tests, the mouse lasted more than a week with daily use and brightness reduced to 25%.

All features of the ASUS ROG Harp Ace Mini can be adjusted via the Armoury Crate app. This software lets you configure button actions, DPI (up to 4 levels), lighting effects, polling rate, and even roll-off height. It also offers the ability to calibrate the mouse to your gaming surface. With preset settings for ASUS mouse pads or customizable options.

Some features are accessible directly on the ASUS mouse, without software. For example, a button below allows you to quickly change DPI levels, while other combinations allow you to change the polling rate or roll-off height. To return to factory settings, simply press the three main buttons and the DPI button simultaneously for three seconds.
