The RTX 5070 Founders Edition will not be available on the day of the GPU's official release, Nvidia says. You will have to fall back on custom graphics cards, which are more expensive.
The first tests of the RTX 5070 were released on March 4, 2025, with the graphics card scheduled for release on March 5. But Nvidia has informed at the last moment the testers that the Founders Edition version of the RTX 5070 would not be available on that date.
“Do you think you can buy a GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition tomorrow? No, Nvidia told us 2.5 hours before the embargo was lifted: the RTX 5070 Founders Edition will be available later in March”, published Andreas Schilling, who works for the specialized media hardwareLUXX.
No RTX 5070 FE at release, only custom models will be available
The situation regarding the availability of RTX 50 generation graphics cards does not seem to be improving. Nvidia had already pushed back the release of the RTX 5070 from late February to early March. And just 24 hours before the launch, we learned that the RTX 5070 FE will not be sold at launch. Only RTX 5070s from third-party manufacturers will be available from March 5, and there is little hope that the stock levels or the pricing policy adopted will be satisfactory.
We noticed this with the RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti, custom graphics cards from other manufacturers are often sold at a price much higher than that communicated by Nvidia. Moreover, in the case of the RTX 5070 Ti, which does not benefit from a Founder's Edition model, certain practices have been strongly criticized. For example, MSI has increased the price of its RTX 5070 Ti Shadow 3X, its most basic version, which is not overclocked. It is now sold for $70 more than the recommended price by Nvidia in the United States.
AMD has just announced its Radeon RX 9000. According to several industry sources, the stock of graphics cards will be larger at AMD than at Nvidia. The RX 9070 could offer performance close to that of the RTX 5070 Ti, at a lower price.
