Pokémon TCG Pocket: this new Shiny card forces you to pay

Pokémon TCG Pocket: this new Shiny card forces you to pay

Finally, the Bright Celebrations expansion isn't entirely... cheerful. This Thursday, March 27, Pokémon TCG Pocket has just welcomed its third set of themed boosters, this time featuring Shiny Pokémon. At least, that's what the first trailer suggested. Now that the cards are out, it's clear that the shiny variants are limited to secret cards, with only 14 Shiny Pokémon out of 36 rare cards. We'll have to pray for our lucky stars to get one of these versions in the booster packs.

Otherwise, there's always the option of going through the microtransaction box. The launch of Radiant Rejoicing is accompanied by a first that may upset collectors: the shiny Mewtwo ex card is reserved for the store. Impossible to get it in the booster packs, players have no choice but to break their piggy bank to get this limited card and the cosmetics that go with it.

A nice pack but a little expensive

In the “Purchase of Poké Ingots” from the Pokémon TCG Pocket store, a new temporary bundle (available until April 29) offers to obtain 120 Poké Ingots, a shiny Mewtwo game piece, a playmat, sleeves, a frame, a binder cover as well as the shiny Mewtwo ex card… for a cost of 22.99 euros. As you can see, the promo card is expensive. Some of the cards of this type were previously reserved for Premium Pass subscribers, so you will now have to make additional purchases in the store to not miss any exclusive cards. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is, as mobile and live service games continue to capitalize on players' FOMO (fear of missing out).

Ranked Matches Coming Tomorrow

On a more positive note – and one that concerns everyone, regardless of their resources – the first season of ranked matches will begin tomorrow, Friday, March 28th at 7 a.m. (French time). This new type of matchmaking will allow players to compete against increasingly tough players in an attempt to climb to the top of the rankings. At the end of the season, players will receive an exclusive badge to proudly display their rank on their profile.

If you're not the battling type, another new feature awaits collectors. With the introduction of new booster packs, Triumphal Light cards have officially joined the list of cards eligible for trading. So remember to contact your family and friends to try to complete your collection today.
