Pad V9: Honor launches a new premium tablet to compete with the iPad

The announcements follow one another and are similar. After the new NxtPaper smartphones from TCL and the improbable dumbphone from HMD aimed at teenagers, Honor unveiled this week, at the MWC in Barcelona, its new tablet Honor Pad V9.

Premium design, and a pleasure for the eyes

With its 6.1 mm thickness, and its 475 grams in weight, the Pad V9 from Honor stands out as one of the lightest in its category. No need to worry, however, promises the brand, since the terminal obtains the SGS Gold Five-star Whole Machine High-strength certification, guaranteeing a bending resistance of 100 N/mm, as well as the NIL nano-topography process, capable of better distributing shocks while effectively resisting fingerprints and dirt.

The Honor Pad V9's 11.5-inch 2.8K LCD screen stands out above all for the care given to the user's eye health. A "public health issue", the manufacturer believes, at a time when screen time continues to increase. TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Protection technology reduces harmful blue light by 6.3%, while Dynamic Dimming automatically adjusts screen intensity according to the surrounding environment, reducing eye strain by 18%. The Circadian Night Display feature promotes melatonin production by 20%, while the AI Defocus Comfort Display, inspired by myopia control lenses, simulates a slight blur to relieve the eyes during prolonged use. It remains to see all that this visual paraphernalia will give to use.

AI to boost everything

Running under MagicOS 9.0 based on on Android 15, the Honor Pad V9 integrates artificial intelligence features designed to transform the user experience and boost productivity. So many new features that are part of a general trend in the tech industry, where AI is becoming a major differentiator between high-end devices and the rest of the market.

To effectively support everything, the Honor Pad V9 finally includes an impressive 10100 mAh battery, which promises up to 13.5 hours of online video streaming, 7.2 hours of gaming, 16.7 hours of browsing social networks or 40 hours of listening to music. 35W fast charging is also part of it. Enough to impose the Pad V9 on a European market largely dominated by Apple and Samsung? Like Xiaomi and Oppo before it, the Honor brand is banking on an aggressive quality-price ratio coupled with premium features. On paper, the promise is enticing. If the device lives up to its promises in terms of performance and ease of use, it could well represent a credible alternative to the industry benchmarks.

Price and availability

Available since yesterday from €499, the Honor Pad V9 targets both professionals looking for productivity and users looking for an immersive multimedia experience. An ambitious model, which will need to be discovered in real use to form a definitive opinion.
