The Logitech G PRO X TKL Rapid stands out as the evolution of the Pro X TKL and the manufacturer's latest high-end product. Unlike many aggressively designed gaming keyboards, it focuses on simplicity with a sleek aesthetic. No more futuristic fonts or overly pronounced RGB effects: its monochrome look, especially in the white version we're testing here, gives it a discreet elegance. The overall look is harmonious, with a contrasting black volume dial and a brushed aluminum top plate that adds a premium touch. True to its minimalist approach, Logitech offers a TKL (Tenkeyless) model here, meaning it lacks a numeric keypad, which optimizes desk space without sacrificing essential features.
Elegance, sobriety, and robustness
Its understated design is based on sturdy plastic, while the double-shot PBT keycaps ensure excellent durability. Notable features include multimedia keys and a volume dial, ideal for adjusting the sound during a gaming session. However, this version does without the Bluetooth and wireless buttons found on its predecessor. The finish is available in three colors: white, black, and pink. The keybed adopts a slightly bluish silver tint, more subtle than on the previous model.
A major new feature
The G PRO X TKL Rapid stands out for the integration of a major innovation: analog magnetic switches. Unlike conventional mechanical models, these switches use a Hall Effect sensor, a technology based on detecting variations in a magnetic field to identify the pressure exerted on a key. This means that there is no physical contact between the internal components, which reduces wear and improves accuracy. Thanks to this approach, it is possible to adjust the activation point of each key with extreme precision, between 0.1 mm and 4.0 mm. This advanced customization allows you to adapt the keyboard's sensitivity according to your preferences and the type of game. Another advantage: the Rapid Trigger function, which instantly resets a key as soon as it is released. A major advantage for competitive games like Counter-Strike 2 or Marvel Rivals, where every millisecond can make the difference.
A very good feel in use
With an activation force of 35 g, these switches are perfectly balanced. They are light enough for gaming, but durable enough to prevent accidental keystrokes. In terms of sound, the keyboard remains relatively quiet for a gaming model. You can hear a slight dampened sound, without unwanted noise or unpleasant vibrations. The larger keys like the space bar produce a deeper sound, but overall, the keyboard offers a good balance between acoustic comfort and responsiveness. For word processing, the keys have a pleasant rebound, without being tiring for the fingers. They offer a smooth and natural typing experience, also ideal for office use.
But the Logitech G PRO X TKL Rapid is positioned as a keyboard designed for eSports. Its quick trigger and minimalist design make it an excellent choice for those who want maximum control and speed.
Slightly inferior connectivity and a controversial feature
Unlike some competitors, Logitech has opted for a wired connection only via USB-C. However, there are a few points to note. It is wired only, which may be a deterrent for some.
On the other hand, this Logitech keyboard offers SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Directions) technology, which allows you to manage opposing inputs, such as pressing "A" and "D" simultaneously. Logitech's version, called Key Priority, allows you to define which key should be prioritized in these situations.
In a competitive FPS like Valorant, this means you can stop a move immediately, improving shot accuracy. This is a real asset for players looking to optimize their reflexes. It can therefore offer a slight competitive advantage by optimizing certain movements. However, Counter-Strike 2 (and Valorant) banned this feature because it gave an unfair advantage to players who weren't fully proficient at manual strafe.
Full customization with Logitech G Hub
Everything is controlled via the Logitech G Hub software, which allows you to adjust keystrokes, configure macros, and customize RGB lighting. It also offers the ability to assign multiple commands to a single switch, depending on how deeply it's pressed. This is where you can activate (or not) the famous Key Priority. Finally, Game Mode, accessible via a dedicated button, proved very useful. It allows you to disable certain keys to avoid mistakes in the middle of the game. A simple but effective option.
