Halo is preparing a surprise for millions of players but ...

The rumor has been growing for several weeks, and it's gaining a little more substance today. Halo: The Master Chief Collection could well arrive on the future Nintendo Switch 2. But be careful: it wouldn't be exactly as players imagine.

An expected... but partial arrival for Halo

It was journalist Tom Warren (The Verge) who revived the subject during a podcast. According to him, Microsoft's cult Halo collection would not arrive in its entirety on Nintendo's next console. In other words, some games in the compilation could simply be missing from the port.

This would be a surprising choice... but not entirely illogical. On the one hand, we can imagine that Microsoft wants to reserve certain titles for future Halo remakes or remasters. On the other hand, the Nintendo Switch 2 – although more powerful – remains a portable machine. It is therefore possible that not all games can be ported without compromise.

A change of strategy for Microsoft

This possible arrival of Halo on a Nintendo console is far from being an isolated case. Since last year, Microsoft has been increasingly opening up its exclusives to other platforms. We saw this with Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Grounded.

In April, it will even be the turn of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Forza Horizon 5 to take the plunge. Halo, a true Xbox icon, would therefore be a logical continuation of this multiplatform strategy. Even in a reduced version, its presence on Switch 2 would mark a real turning point.

Good news: we probably won't have to wait long to find out what happens. Nintendo has planned a Switch 2 Direct Special this Tuesday, April 2. This will be an opportunity to discover the console's first games, and perhaps finally make this Halo port official. Wait and see.
