Does Google Photos have just unveiled its new interface through this survey?

The Google Photos app could well get a bit of a facelift in the coming months. It wasn't any official announcements that raised suspicions, but a simple survey, shared by a user on Telegram, which revealed several clues about the direction Google is taking to modernize its photo app.

A more streamlined interface

The survey in question, published on the SurveyJunkey platform, shows what the future Google Photos interface could look like. The questionnaire asks users to compare two versions of the home page: the current, familiar one, and a revised version with a more modern design. Looking at the shared screenshot, several elements immediately jump out at you.

Does Google Photos have just unveiled its new interface through this survey?

The first notable change concerns the presentation of photos: they would now adopt rounded corners. Another new feature : a floating bar at the bottom of the screen, with a search field and a square-shaped button, also with rounded corners, which could correspond to quick access to collections. We also note that the name "Google Photos" would disappear from the header in favor of a very simple icon, enough to further purify the interface. The filter and selection icons could also be redesigned, and the text in the "Memories" section refocused.

Towards a redesign of Google Photos?

This test comes as Google is already working on a new photo viewer. All of this suggests that the company is working on a soft redesign of its application. The floating bar had already been spotted in 2023, proof that Google has been experimenting with it for a while.

For now, nothing is confirmed. This survey is likely used to gauge user reactions before launching an update to more people. But the intention is clear: to simplify and modernize Google Photos, without disrupting our routines.
