Who will be in the cast of Daredevil Born Again?
Daredevil Born Againwill be able to count on Charlie Cox in the title role; he was already the one who played the vigilante in the first series. Vincent D’Onofrio, aka Wilson Fisk, will also be back. He was also present in the original series.
We also know that Jon Bernthal will be donning the boots of the Punisher again. The MCU version of the character made his debut in 2016 in season 2 of Daredevil before having his own series on Netflix (produced by Marvel Television). The title Daredevil Born Again is quite explicit of the intention of the series: to be a rebirth for the hero. It is also the title of a 1986 comic run by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli. This story is one of the darkest of the blind hero of Hell's Kitchen.
While Karen Page has sunk into drugs, she exchanges a dose of heroin for the identity of her ex-boyfriend, Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil. The Kingpin seizes this information to track down his long-time enemy and our hero is pushed to his limits. A cult arc that put the character back in front of more down-to-earth problems.
But judging by the first trailer for the series, the show would have instead chosen to rely on another equally well-known story arc, namely Devil's Reign. In this plot, Wilson Fisk has seized the seat of mayor of New York. The former mobster, more powerful than ever, will use his power and political influence to ban vigilantes in the city and turn them into pariahs. For Kingpin, this is the perfect opportunity to use all possible means to track down and eliminate Daredevil and his allies. To survive, the demon of Hell's Kitchen will have to join forces with the other heroes of New York, including a certain Peter Parker (at least, in the comics).

After two years of waiting, Marvel and Disney have finally decided to put the very first trailer for Daredevil Born Again online on January 15, 2025. It's a pleasure to see Charlie Cox, Deborah All Woll, Vincent d'Onofrio and Jon Berthal in their respective roles again.

Dario Scarpadane, executive producer of the series, also states that "the level of violence is well above that of a Marvel/Disney series". The story of the character Daredevil within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not simple. The hero went through another platform before arriving on Disney+, even changing studios along the way. We're going to try to put all that back on the table.
Daredevil has always been one of the most popular characters in the Marvel stable. He's even one of those who had his own film before the creation of the MCU in 2008. It was in 2003, under the aegis of 20th Century Fox and with Ben Affleck in the role of the blind hero. A commercial and critical failure.
In 2013, Marvel recovered the film rights to its hero and signed a partnership with Netflix (via Marvel Television, a different entity from Marvel Studios at the time). The streaming platform, then in full expansion and alone on the market, aims to create its own universe within the MCU.
The project is simple: give a series to Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, then bring them all together in a mega series called The Defenders. A project that was successfully completed and which saw the addition of a spin-off series on the Punisher. From 2015 to 2018, Daredevil had three seasons. While our New York heroes are indeed part of the MCU (there are many references to certain events or characters from the films), they operate in isolation due to rights issues.
In 2019, Disney launched its own Disney+ platform and Marvel Studios absorbed Marvel Television. As a result, Netflix series are no longer of interest to Mickey's company, the latter not going to compete with itself. A somewhat strange situation then arises: the Defenders are put on hold. In 2021, Marvel Studios recovers the rights from Netflix and decides to exploit them.
It is in the Spider-Man No Way Home film in December 2021 that Matt Murdock/Daredevil makes his big comeback, still played by Charlie Cox. A maneuver that "canonizes" Netflix content, which was somewhat questioned at the time.
The same month, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) appears in the Hawkeye series. Some time later, Born Again is announced with both actors. Marvel Studios has decided to reshoot Daredevil Born Again from the beginning, what happened?
According to THR, Marvel Studios had to shut down production in September 2023. Writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were reportedly fired and the directors were let go. A tough decision when half of the episodes had already been filmed.
The fact is that the Marvel bigwigs would not have been satisfied with the results at all. In this version, the series simply didn't work. Far removed from the spirit of the Netflix creation, it leaned more towards a legal series than a superhero one. Daredevil, for example, was completely absent from the first four episodes, which focused on trials. All this led Disney to start over from scratch.
