With very few exceptions, CES is an annual opportunity for Asus to renew its catalog of gaming laptops and unveil new, updated versions of its flagship models. 2025 is no exception: in addition to its plastic vivobook ARM and its Zenbook 14 weighing less than 1 kg, the manufacturer has presented a whole series of new ROG Strix, Strix SCAR and Zephyrus models powered by GeForce RTX 50 Series and integrating AMD and Intel processors of the latest generation.
Zephyrus G14 & G16: for playing in lightness
Always aimed at gamers and creators who seek portability and lightness without sacrificing performance, the Zephyrus G14 and G16 and their aluminum unibody chassis are moving this year to the new Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors. To handle the most demanding AI, video, 3D (gaming or creation) and livestreaming workflows, they also feature the latest generation of NVIDIA graphics cards, from the GeForce RTX 5070 mobile to the super-powerful RTX 5090 mobile (except the G14, which is limited to the RTX 5080 laptop at most).
Both versions are equipped with an OLED “ROG Nebula” screen combining excellent image quality (100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut and Pantone validation) and optimal characteristics for gamers: the response time is only 0.2ms and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology is supported. The Zephyrus G14 benefits from a 3K 120 Hz panel while the G16 is limited to 2.5K, but in return the refresh rate climbs to 240 Hz.
Available in white “Platinum White” or gray “Eclispe Gray”, they finally benefit as always from all the expertise of Asus in terms of design and design. The result is a remarkably low weight for gaming computers: 1.5 kg for the G14 and 1.8 kg for the G16. Expected on the market in March, the Zephyrus G14 (2025) and G16 (2025) will be available from 3,600 euros and 3,800 euros respectively.

ROG Strix SCAR 16 & 18: The ultimate portable gaming machine
Less compact than the Zephyrus, the Strix SCAR in the 2025 version also adopts the latest generation Intel processors as well as the entire range of mobile GeForce RTX 50 Series. The screen – 16 inches or 18 inches depending on the model – can display a 2.5K definition (2560 x 1600 pixels) with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, for a response time of up to 3 ms. Here too, we are entitled to 100% coverage of the CDI-P3 color space and Pantone validation, as well as NVIDIA G-SYNC and Dolby Vision certifications. In other words, both gamers and content creators should be satisfied with this panel.
Gaming range requires, the keyboard benefits from Aura Sync compatible RGB backlighting. An AniMe Vision matrix is placed at the back of the screen next to the ROG RGB logo, and an Aura RGB light bar runs all around the chassis. An interesting detail about these models is that the manufacturer has optimized access to the various components – which makes them easier to upgrade – while making it easier to clean the ventilation system, thanks to an ingenious opening system that does not require tools.
Finally, freed from the constraints of compactness imposed on the Zephyrus, the Strix SCAR weighs 2.8 kg on the scale in the 16-inch version and 3.5 kg for the 18-inch model. The thickness exceeds in both cases just 3 cm. The entry ticket for the Strix SCAR 16 in the 2025 version is 3800 euros; add a hundred euros to move up to the 18-inch model.

ROG Strix G16 & G18: some sacrifices to lower the bill
Asus' ROG Strix also goes to version 2025 by integrating new AMD or Intel processors, as well as a new generation GeForce RTX. Compared to the SCAR version, we lose the Mini-LED backlighting to "make do" with a 2.5K IPS panel, as well as the AniMe Vision matrix on the back of the screen. The Aura RGB lighting around the chassis also seems to be reserved for the Intel versions. Available in “Volt Green” and “Eclispe Grey” versions, the ROG Strix 16 and 18 in the 2025 vintage are expected in March starting at 3,400 euros and 3,500 euros respectively.
