Xiaomi unveils its new batch of Poco with the Poco X7 and X7 Pro, two smartphones that rely heavily on the price-performance ratio to convince.
Poco X7 Pro: power to spare
Let's start our little overview with the most high-end of the two. The Poco X7 Pro, marketed at a starting price of 369 euros, integrates the Dimensity 8400 Ultra chip from MediaTek, designed to be a notch below the very high-end, but which should offer good performance nonetheless. Last year, the Poco X6 Pro seemed very solid in this area. Don't expect a RoG Phone 9 Pro just yet, but you should have enough to see it coming.
And precisely, the Poco X7 Pro, with this chip engraved in 4 nm, should, according to the manufacturer, see its CPU and GPU performances increase by 54 and 70% respectively. In order to keep all this at a respectable temperature, the Poco X7 Pro integrates a 5000 mm² cooling chamber.
6000 mAh battery and 90 W charging
It's the fashion this year, the Poco X7 Pro also integrates a 6000 mAh battery, promising 14.5 hours of continuous use. The smartphone can be charged by wire with a power of 90 W using a proprietary charger of the brand, which according to it allows to go from 0 to 100% in 42 minutes.
The screen of the Poco is a large Oled panel of 6.67 inches (120 Hz). It promises 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 spectrum and 3200 nits in peak brightness. We will verify this in our test. It is also protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
For the photo, the Poco does the bare minimum with a slightly beefy main module (50 Mpx sensor, f/1.5 OIS), a discounted ultra wide-angle (8 Mpx, F/2.2) and a 20 Mpx sensor for selfies.
It is Dual Sim compatible, supports Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 6, weighs just under 200 g and is completely waterproof (IP 68). Everything runs on Xiaomi's new interface, HyperOS 2.0.
Poco X7: slower, but no less equipped
A non-pro model necessarily means a slower chip. We are moving on to a Dimensity 7300-Ultra SoC. This one promises an AnTuTu score of 704404, roughly equivalent to a Snapdragon 888, a high-end chip from 2021.
In broad terms, it retains the technical characteristics of the X7 Pro. A few elements differ, however. The battery is smaller (5110 mAh) and charges less quickly (45W). The Poco X7 also comes out with HyperOS 1.0.
The move to a cheaper model does not only have disadvantages. Indeed, it is a little lighter (185 g), benefits from an additional macro sensor, but above all, and this is a surprise, the glass that protects it is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
