This is a place where video game nostalgics and those curious about the 10th art will find something to satisfy their curiosity. The Video Game History Foundation, an American non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and documentation of the history of video games, has opened its new online library.
Old magazines and forgotten documents
Enthusiasts will find a beautiful collection of magazines dedicated to video games published in the 90s and 2000s, available for consultation (but unfortunately not downloadable in PDF). We find quite a few big names from the press of the time, including Electronic Gaming Monthly, Mega and Game Informer. It is also possible to search for a game or information in all this literature.
The collection does not stop at magazines. You will also find marketing documents, press kits, advertising material, catalogs (some dating back to 1973!)… There are even game production and development documents. Enough to lose an entire weekend, or even more.
Closer to us, let us recall the existence of Abandonware-France, which lists a rather incredible collection of French magazines for free consultation, but also games abandoned by their developers, documents and resources of all kinds.
