Gboard is about to integrate a long-awaited new feature: a button to undo the last action performed, sometimes accidentally. This "Undo" button is not really new since Google has been testing it since July 2023 in the beta version of its keyboard.
A new button to undo the last action
This new feature will be integrated with the other optional features made available in the Gboard options. You will be able, as for each of them, to drag and drop the Undo button directly into the shortcut bar to access it more quickly.
Concretely, when you activate this button, Gboard will automatically undo the last action. The module will thus erase one letter at a time if you were typing text, or will redisplay for example a block of text that you could have accidentally deleted. Note that using this button will display the Undo button in the shortcut bar, but also, and above all, a Redo button, should you change your mind again.
The feature, which appears to be in the process of being deployed, is currently only available in version 14.9.0.x of Gboard, which is still in beta. We will probably have to wait a few more days to hope to see this version arrive in a stable version on a larger scale on all the smartphones concerned.
Gboard, which is undoubtedly one of the best virtual keyboards for Android, continues to improve. Already ultra-complete compared to some competitors, Google's keyboard already introduced another very practical feature a few months ago. Last February, Gboard welcomed a module for scanning documents and integrating an optical character recognition system. A feature designed to allow you to easily extract the text displayed on images to allow you to reuse it elsewhere, in a message, or on a document, for example.
