Apple could launch a new function for iCloud this week

"Confetti." That's the code name that Apple has reportedly chosen for the new feature coming to iCloud. And it could arrive very quickly since the Cupertino firm is reportedly planning to unveil it this week. At least that's what Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is usually well-informed when it comes to Apple, believes he knows, and reported on it in his weekly newsletter.

A new system for event invitations

According to Gurman, "Confetti" is a new service aimed at offering users "a new way to invite people to parties, events, and meetings." For now, no details on how this new module will work are known. It's therefore difficult to know whether it will be part of an independent application, or whether it will be directly integrated into another application already in place, such as Calendar. Gurman also specifies that this new feature would be directly linked to the latest iOS update, 18.3, deployed by Apple last week.

These predictions by Mark Gurman are entirely plausible, and corroborate information already revealed by 9to5Mac. A few weeks ago, our colleagues had indeed discovered in the second beta of iOS 18.3, several references to "invitation application". By exploring the code of iOS 18.3 beta 2, they had discovered that the application would be integrated into iCloud and that it would even have an online version accessible on the web version of iCloud. They also indicated that the application would mainly allow access to the list of people invited to an event, with the possibility of seeing the people who have responded positively, or not, to this invitation.
